First festival of 2010-Makar Sankranti/Pongal/lodi

The extended weekend has presented the perfect opportunity for the people to get away from the normal schedule at NITK. Most of my peers have made full use of the opportunity and have left for various places. While some would be wondering in their wonderland at bengaluru or falling from jogs, others would be sun bathing in the beautiful beaches of Goa in their short and skimpy outfits. Rest of us who stayed at the hostel was celebrating the first festival of the year Makar Sankranti/Pongal/Lodi. Living in a secular environment with people representing every part of the world, every festival is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm. People belonging to all religion and culture are part of them with equal enthu and zeal. One can experience the whole India at the NITK campus.
Being a holiday and Makar Sankranti, I decided to visit a temple. After paying my respect, I sat near the beach staring at the waves along with my friends Chandan and Prafful. There I came across two very fair complexion guys with large backpacks and digicams slightly tanned with overexposure to the sun. They seemed quite friendly and in no time we got into a conversation. They told me that they have been on a tour to this part of the world for the last 15 days on their bikes.
They were coming from Chennai and intended to visit Goa next. We took photographs and I showed them the very popular Shiva Temple which they really liked. They completely fell in love with the NITK beach and suggested that it would be the perfect place to go a romantic date with your girlfriend. They also thought that no girl could ever resist kissing her boyfriend in such a beautiful place.
They were drinking wine in full public view similar to how we enjoy our cokes and pepsis. They also offered me but when I said no they said that “I think that u r hindi hence you are nonalchoholic” I said yes and denied their offer. So I also discussed with them many things. They told me that they intended to spend their whole night at beach. Then next morning they will go for Uduppi and then Goa. It was a nice meeting them the memories of which I would cherish for quite some time.
Bbyes for now…

First week of 4th semester in NITK

It was really a very sad moment when i was returning back to college because of thefact that i won't be seeing my parents for another 4 months and have to survive on the stupid food...mom i love you and miss the amazing food you cook for me everyday. I was also very afraid to get back to college because of the fact that the last sem was very ''ULJHA HUA'' type for me and my grades were also not gud. But after watching the movie "Three Idiots" i knew "aal izz well". As usual i m planning to study hard and want to get good grades this semester. But i have also learned that i wud be chasing excellence rather than success. Also the fact that our placements would start in about 6 months is giving me nightmares. But as it is rightly said by Ranchoddas baba "Aal izz well Aal izz well".

It is my 7th day at NITK today and almost the whole hostel is empty with most of my peers outing at various places. Signing off with the promise that i would return next time with something more concrete and lengthy.

luv ya all
